Ok, I am going to get extensive here with the COMPLETE install, so that you get the idea if you get ANY Momo shift knob - and since I have done three installs with Momo's before, I highly recommend them.

(However, other brands might be just as good, i have no idea!) :)

Ok, getting the current knob off is easy - take the shift boot and pull it down towards the ground..

The shift knob locks ("snaps") into place on both sides, via little locking pins, which make taking the shift knob on or off easy..

Pull the tabs of the shift knob OUT towards the doors and then slide the whole thing up - a rather simple process, hard to explain in words though! you'll figure it out after a while!) :)

Once you get that off, now comes the fun part...

As you may have noticed, the BASE of your factory shift knob was tapered to a certain degree..

This allowed for the rubber boot to slide up and STAY without falling back down.. however, with an aftermarket shift now that wont happen.. so you need something to keep it up..

There is, hwoever a solution to this :

 | | <=- bottom of new shift knob
 \_____/
   | |
  #####   <=- a rubber washer
  #####
   | | <=- shaft it all slides over
   | |

With this washer, the shift boot slides over over it and stays in place.. I have personally made washers like this myself at my family's die-cutting plant, and would be able to fabricate more upon demand..

Here is how my shift knob looks when completely apart... all momo's have a bottom that screws off like this :

 /~~~~~~\
| |
| |
| |
| |
 | o |
 ########

|~~~~~~~~|
 \______/

Obviously the bottom part screws on to the top part... that is the #'s and the ~~'s that i have..

That little "o" that you see is one of 3 - located at 1/3rds around the shift knob... there are little screws that go in that are pointy, and they actually grab ONTO the shaft of your car..

You slide the bottom of the shift knob on first, then the top.. then you put the 3 screws in the holes and tighten them up (all of this COMES in the Momo package for EVERY momo shift knob!)

Upon that process, it is now tightened up, solid .. it's not moving at all! You then slide the bottom up and screw it on - the Momo shift knob explains most if this as well..

Now you are set, and it looks like this (if you did it right!)

 /~~~~~~\
| |
| |
| |
| | <=- your cool momo shift knob, of course!
| |
 \______/
   | | <=- a very small portion of the shaft is shown
/~~~~\ here for your better understanding it!
 |######|
 |######|
 | | <=- the shift boot (rubber, leather, whatever!)

Note that the #'s (my washer) helps keep the boot up and snug.. without it the boot is bigger thant he shaft and it would just slide back down..

That basically does it - I am sure there are other simple installs from other places, but just thought since a few people had asked, people might like to know this..

oh well.. enjoy!
