REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves the removal of the protective transit film from the CHMSL.

  1. Mix 4 fluid ounces of isopropyl alcohol (rubbing) and 4 fluid ounces white table vinegar together.
  2. Place protective drop cloths around the CHMSL, leaving only the CHMSL exposed.
  3. Saturate a cloth and place the cloth over the affected areas of the CHMSL.
  4. Completely wet the CHMSL. Allow the wet cloth to remain in place for 10 minutes. Additional mixture may bepoured on top of the cloth if the towel appears to dry out during this soaking period.
  5. After allowing the cloth to soak on the CHMSL, use the wet cloth to wipe across the affected area. Additional clean cloths soaked in the same mixture should be substituted as the cloth becomes saturated with the dissolved film. Continue this process until all the dissolved film has been removed.
  6. Allow the lens to dry. Examine the lens for any undissolved film particles or residue. If all film has been removed, wipe the lens with a clean cloth saturated in the removal mixture. If all the film has not been removed, perform steps 4 and 5.
  7. Remove all masking materials and wash the CHMSL area with soap and water. Rinse the vehicle thoroughly before allowing the area to dry.
