| SYMPTOM/CONDITION: Engine damage caused by incorrect installation of either camshaft sprocket after an engine repair. |
| DISCUSSION: The camshaft sprockets on the 2.0L DOHC engines built Aug. 1, 1994 through
Oct. 31, 1994 may have two timing marks on the 2.0L side of each sprocket. Figure 1 It is essential that the correct timing mark
is used when setting the cam timing. If the wrong timing mark is used, the valves may come
into contact with the pistons resulting in engine damage. |
