DISCUSSION:
This bulletin involves the correct installation procedure for the plastic center cap for the 13" styled steel wheel (See Figure 1).

A package of four center caps is stowed in the trunk for dealer installation. The plastic center cap is designed to fit onto the "bulge nose" lug nuts, P/N 6500092. The four towers of the center cap line up with the lug nuts for installation (See Figure 2). It is important that the cap be installed deep enough into the wheel for the cap towers to fit over the nose of the lug nuts. If the cap can be removed by hand, without prying, it was not properly installed.
NOTE: IF FOR SOME REASON AN INCORRECT LUG NUT HAS BEEN INSTALLED ON THE WHEEL, THE CENTER CAP WILL BE LOOSE OR RATTLE OR NOT GO ON AT ALL.
Some resistance can be felt when the cap is first pushed into place. This initial resistance is not sufficient to keep the cap on the wheel. The cap must be forced on with a rubber mallet to ensure it has been completely seated onto the lug nuts.
When properly installed there is almost no gap between the wheel and cap. It requires the use of a lug wrench or screw driver to pry it off.
