| SYMPTOM/CONDITION: Difficult to clean the urethane primer residue off the inside of the windshield or backlight. |
| DISCUSSION: During the vehicle assembly process, a translucent urethane primer is
applied to the inside outer perimeter of the windshield/backlight. Sometimes, the primer
may extend beyond the urethane bonding area when the primer is applied to the
windshield/backlight. When the primer dries, it leaves a film on the windshield/backlight
that may become difficult to remove. If you encounter a film around the inside outer
perimeter of the windshield/backlight that is difficult to remove, perform the following
Repair Procedure. |
| REPAIR PROCEDURE: Mask the black band that is around the perimeter of the
windshield/backlight and on the backlight defroster heating grids (if necessary) that are
near the area to be cleaned. Use very fine (0000) steel wool and moderate pressures to rub
off the film in the affected areas. |
