| SYMPTOM/CONDITION: The radio display may go blank on the above listed vehicles equipped with a premium AM/FM/Cassette radio. To prevent customer dissatisfaction resulting from this condition, the radio should be replaced prior to failure. |

| DISCUSSION: Details of this service action are explained in the following sections. Service Procedure Videotape No videotape of the service procedure for this notification will be provided. Dealer Notification & Vehicle List Involved dealers: Each dealer to whom involved vehicles were invoiced (or the current dealer at the same street address) will receive a copy of this dealer notification letter and a list of the involved vehicles by first class mail. The Vehicle List is arranged in Vehicle Identification Number (YIN) sequence. Owners known to Chrysler are also listed. The lists are for dealer reference in arranging for service of involved vehicles. All other dealers: Each Dodge and ChryslerPlymouth dealer who does not receive a Vehicle List will receive a copy of this dealer notification letter by first class mail. DIAL System Function 70 All involved vehicles will be entered to DIAL System Function 70 at the time of notification mailing for dealer inquiry by VIN as needed. Parts Important: All replacement exchange radios for this notification must be ordered through United Radio, the Alpine Radio Service Center. NO PARTS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED INITIALLY. Dealers are requested to order the appropriate replacement radio for the vehicle being serviced prior to the service appointment. Exchange radios may only be ordered by FAX using the attached form or by phone as indicated in the Special Parts Supply Message. Parts shipment to dealers will be expedited and should arrive at your dealership within two business days. This replacement radio will not be available through the normal DIAL parts order system. Owner Notification and Service Scheduling All involved vehicle owners known to Chrysler are being notified of the service requirement by first class mail. They are requested to schedule appointments for the service with their dealers. A copy of the owner notification letter is attached. Enclosed with each owner notification is an Owner Notification Form. The involved vehicle and notification are identified on the form for owner or dealer reference as needed. Service Procedure Note: To ensure customer satisfaction, remember to record all radio settings and to reset all electronic memory (clock, radio settings, etc.) when you have completed the service procedure. 1. With the ignition off, remove the instrument panel bezel around the radio (Figure 1). 2 Remove two (2) screws which secure the radio to the instrument panel (Figure 2). Completion Reporting and Reimbursement Claims for vehicles which have been serviced must be
submitted on the DIAL System. Claims submitted will be used by Chrysler to record
notification service completions and provide dealer payments. Use the following labor operation number and time allowance:
A separate EMCR (Equipment Manufacturer's Claim Request) must be filed for the exchange radio. Include a copy of the EMCR with the return radio to United Radio. Parts Return Removed radios must be returned with a copy of the EMCR in
the exchange radio packaging (prepaid UPS label included) to United Radio. Dealers will be
billed for replaced radios which are not promptly returned. Vehicle Not Available If a vehicle is not available for service for a known
reason, let us know by filling out the preaddressed Vehicle Disposition Form portion of
the Owner Notification Form or describe the reason on a postcard and mail to: |
